Last updated: December 17, 2024

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the Jinnie Chrome Extension ("Extension") collects, uses, and protects your information. The Extension is designed to help you save products from any website to your Jinnie wishlists.

By using the Extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Product Information

When you use the Extension to save a product, we collect:

  • Product details: Title, price, description, images, and URL of the product page
  • Website metadata: Open Graph and Schema.org data from the product page

Authentication Information

To sync with your Jinnie account, we access:

  • Authentication token: Stored locally in your browser to authenticate API requests
  • User preferences: Your last selected wishlist (stored locally)

What We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not track your browsing history
  • We do not collect data from pages you visit unless you explicitly click the Extension icon
  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties
  • We do not collect personal information beyond what you provide to Jinnie

How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used exclusively to:

  • Save products to your Jinnie wishlists
  • Authenticate you with your Jinnie account
  • Remember your preferences (like last selected wishlist)
  • Improve the Extension's product extraction accuracy

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage: Your authentication token and preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage API.

Server Storage: Product information you save is transmitted to and stored on Jinnie's secure servers, subject to the main Jinnie Privacy Policy.

Security: All data transmission between the Extension and Jinnie servers uses HTTPS encryption.

Permissions Explained

The Extension requires the following Chrome permissions:

  • cookies: To read your Jinnie authentication cookie from jinnie.co for secure login
  • activeTab: To extract product information (title, price, images) from the current page when you click the Extension icon
  • storage: To save your preferences locally (like last selected wishlist)
  • scripting: To inject product extraction code into the active tab
  • host permissions (all URLs): To allow saving products from any e-commerce website you visit

Important: The Extension only accesses page content when you explicitly activate it by clicking the icon. It does not monitor or collect data from pages you simply browse.

Third-Party Websites

The Extension extracts product information from third-party e-commerce websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these websites. We only collect the specific product information you choose to save.

You have the right to:

  • Uninstall the Extension at any time
  • Delete your Jinnie account and all associated data
